Patrice Altenhofen

A creative and approachable employment law attorney and human resource professional, Patrice leads the Association's team in providing collaborative, responsive, and solution-oriented services. She personifies Cascade's tradition of bringing a preventive, problem-solving approach to assisting employers in HR, labor, and employment law matters. Patrice is credited with developing innovative training programs for executives, managers, and supervisors, including the Association's comprehensive HR Leadership Certificate Program. Top-level management of organizations from diverse industries routinely seek Patrice’s guidance in the development of long-term human resource and compliance strategies.
Patrice serves on the Oregon Governor's Council on Reentry. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Oregon Society of Association Management; Job Growers Incorporated; Salem-Keizer Education Foundation; and, Blanchet Catholic School. She volunteers her time as a cancer patient advocate. An Oregon native, Patrice joined Cascade in 1993 while completing Willamette University's Joint Degree program, earning her Law Degree and Master of Business Administration. She was appointed President in 2006.

With a zeal for technology, producing positive experiences for users of Cascade’s Web site and social media tools comes naturally for Angela. Also responsible for design, integration and management of internal systems, Angela has mastered “on the fly support” for both members and staff. She came to Cascade in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Writing and Literature from George Fox University. Her expertise is the perfect mix for sustaining Association technology systems and disseminating information to develop good employers into great employers.

Jerry Bumgarner, CCP

Jerry joined Cascade's staff in June of 1995. A graduate of Loyola University of Los Angeles, he majored in Human Resources and has devoted more than 40 years to this field, specializing in the compensation area. He provides specialized compensation support to employers (e.g. market pay ranges, competitive pay assessments, incentive plans, performance management), and helps Cascade members to align pay with business results. In addition, Jerry conducts compensation surveys for numerous industry groups and serves as a participant on national survey steering committees. A regular presenter for workshops on the above topics, Jerry also serves with various local, regional, and national professional HR groups. Jerry has also earned the Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation which is awarded by the American Compensation Association for extensive studies and practical experience in the compensation field.

Having joined the Cascade team in 1996, Glen is the most senior Leadership Facilitator at Cascade Employers Association. Glen specializes in customized leadership development programs for our Members, and has inspired thousands of supervisors to excel at their jobs. Corporations, colleges, governments, and nonprofits seek him out to provide insight into leadership, team building, and change management. Certified in Achieve Global (aka Zenger Miller) systems, Glen also serves Members by facilitating meetings and mediating conflicts. Glen has been a member of three local boards, serving as Vice President for Habitat for Humanity, President for the American Society for Training and Development, and President of the Oregon Ethics Commons. Glen is also honored to act as the Lead Facilitator for the international Resiliency Center, founded by the late Dr. Al Siebert.

Curtis Farmer

His oversight of the Association’s group benefit programs, including a multitude of health and retirement options, focuses on what’s best for employers and their people. Curtis’s knowledge of the changing landscape of employee benefits ensures that Cascade’s plan offerings are practical and administered appropriately. Before coming to Cascade in 2008, he spent nearly 12 years in the financial services industry specializing in retirement plans. Curtis earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Nazarene University. He is also a professional photographer (in his spare time).

With experience both in the trenches as an HR department of one and an outside HR Consultant, Elizabeth has seen this philosophy come to life in numerous companies. Elizabeth is often answering AnswerSource questions and providing advice on employee-specific situations to our members, as well as working on-site with organizations, presenting harassment training, and doing project-based work such as handbooks and job descriptions. Elizabeth loves problem solving and research, especially when it can be of assistance to our members. Elizabeth has been with Cascade since 2010 and has a degree in English, one of the reasons she loves reading employee handbooks cover to cover.

With 20 years of administrative support experience she provides assistance to the Research and Compensation Department, including processing and publishing of Association pay and benefit studies. Tina is an Oregon native and a graduate of Western Oregon University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. In 2009 she earned her certificate in HR leadership through Cascade's Human Resource Leadership Certificate Program.

Carey joined the Cascade Staff in December 2000. She is a graduate from Western Oregon University. She has a degree in Psychology where her studies focused on data assessment and analysis. As a Human Resource and Compensation Consultant, she works on many different projects. She has an extensive background in conducting wage and salary surveys for many different industry groups. She also works with Cascade members to provide specialized compensation support to help align employee compensation with overall organizational goals and strategies, and works on Affirmative Action plans for organizations utilizing her data analysis experience. Carey has received the Professional in Human Resource (PHR) certification from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the Human Resource Certification Institute.

She oversees all membership activities, instinctively assessing the needs of employers and linking them to the resources that advance workplace success. She also manages Cascade’s marketing and communication programs. As our Director of Finance and Accounting, Diane is responsible for a broad array of accounting functions – from Member billings to accounts payable to Trust accounting. She works closely with our President in the strategic management of Association financial resources. With her extensive payroll knowledge, Diane is also available to assist Members with payroll-related questions. Diane brings over 20 years experience in accounting, and is an advisor on QuickBooks Pro applications. Approachable, diligent, and easy to work with, Diane was a perfect fit when she joined the Cascade team in February, 2008.

Lynn is our resident Oregon Duck supporter, and with good reason. Lynn received her Masters degree in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations from the U of O. Lynn’s graduate studies along with her undergraduate degree in Math and Economics make her well suited to support Cascade’s members with the many facets of Human Resources including compliance with Affirmative Action regulations and compensation practices.
In addition to keeping Cascade’s members up to date on Affirmative Action regulations and plans, she works on site at several member locations. In some cases she acts as the member’s HR Manager, and in other situations she supports current HR departments in completing specific projects. Lynn also consults in other areas including general consulting on best practices and compliance, handbook review and development, job description development, and compensation programs and practices. Lynn is known for her approachable, engaging and supportive style that gives Cascade members confidence and peace of mind.

Tara’s specialty is helping people cope with and conquer the forces of overwhelm and overload. She is best known for her program, “Seven Dimensions of Productivity.” It’s a set of skills and tools that cover all the areas that anyone needs to be highly productive: managing time, focusing attention, getting organized, being reliable, tracking results, acting strategically, and reaping fulfillment and satisfaction. One-on-one coaching - working directly with someone who is highly motivated yet still struggling - is Tara’s sweet spot. She excels with clients who are called to contribute--people who want to make a bigger, better impact in their lives and their work. Tara especially welcomes working with folks who want to integrate their spiritual lives into their work to become more productive. She also enjoys facilitating groups as a coach and employs an extraordinarily effective group coaching method popularly known as “masterminding.”

Program participants rely on Amber’s unmatched experience in COBRA administration, billing and enrollment services to ease their burden and help their employees understand their health insurance benefits. And if that isn’t enough, Amber also lends her creative touch to our Training Department, enhancing our workbooks and other training materials.
Amber came to Cascade in 2005 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an option in Marketing Management from Oregon State University – Go Beavs! She is also a licensed Oregon health and life insurance producer.

As an accomplished presenter, Bill is able to articulate program goals, strategy, and progress. His wealth of workplace experience includes 10 years as the Director of Employee Assistance Programs for Southwest Washington Medical Center and 15 years as the President and CEO of EASE, a premier Northwest Employee Assistance Program. He has consulted with hundreds of workplaces, teaching practical management techniques with real-world applicability. His clients vary from landscapers to CEOs, from welders to college professors. Nancy leads Cascade’s administrative support staff, providing exceptional support to our members, our Board of Directors, our President, and our staff. She maintains our beautiful facility, and coordinates office resources. Nancy ensures that Cascade maintains its designation as an Oregon Top 100 Best Green Company and our Marion County “Earthwise” Certification. No area of Association service goes untouched by her attention to detail and outstanding customer service. Nancy holds a certificate in HR Leadership and has been with the Association since June, 1991.
