E-Verify Delayed Until June 30, 2009

April, 2009

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has again delayed the implementation date that federal contractors must use the E-Verify system, from May 21, 2009, to June 30, 2009.  The delay is to allow the Obama Administration time to review the regulations.

Under the new E-Verify requirements, employers with federal contracts over $100,000 or subcontracts for services or construction over $3,000 will be required to use the E-Verify system.  E-Verify is an electronic verification system which is intended to confirm an individual’s eligibility to work in the United States.
