EEO-1 Filing Reminder and EEOC Sends Users New Passwords

July, 2013

It is that time of year again when covered employers are required to submit their EEO-1 (Employer Information Report) report to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

If you are an employer who has used the EEOC’s on line reporting system to submit EEO-1 reports, the EEOC has reset all passwords "for security and confidentiality purposes.” New passwords are being issued to past on-line system users, and you can expect your company to receive a notification letter with a new password. If you do not want to wait to submit your report until you receive your notification letter, you can obtain a new password by sending an email to [email protected].

For those opting to send an email to obtain their new password, the email will have to come from whomever the company designated as the EEO-1 reporting contact in previous submissions, or other certifying official. You must also provide your company’s login identification. If the reporting contact is no longer employed with the company, your request should reference the name of this person and a request to transfer access to the new contact.

As a reminder, all employers subject to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act that have 100 or more employees and all federal contractors or subcontractors with 50 or more employees and a contract/subcontract of $50,000 or more in value must submit an EEO-1 report.

Reports are due by September 30, 2013. The report must reflect employment data from any one payroll period in July, August or September of 2013. Employers with multiple facilities generally are required to file multiple reports.

The EEOC has not yet opened their on-line system for employers to report their 2013 data, and there is no information stating the date when the on-line system will be open.

Please contact Cascade if we can answer any questions for you about EEO-1 reporting and filing requirements.
