HR Flex Staff Consultant

As a project based HR Flex Staff Consultant you will be providing “boots on the ground” support to our members that need extra HR help. One member may need you to jump in when someone on their HR team is going on leave. Another may need interim support while you recruit for an open HR position. Others may need your help establishing or building their HR presence. Whatever the need, your expertise will provide a seamless presence in their workplace with little or no disruption to their programs and policies, staff or management. And of course, you will also have a full battery of our HR professionals on your side.

  • In the trenches HR expertise. You’ve lived it. You’ve survived. You really know what it’s like to practice HR and have the current technical HR knowledge, practical experience and appreciation for the different roles and functions of HR to guide others.

Responsibilities of our HR Flex Staff Consultants include:

  • Provide onsite support to member organizations for of all aspects of HR including but not limited to compliance (family leave, ADA, wage and hour, harassment, discrimination, etc.), employee relations, performance management, recruitment, employee engagement, benefit programs, payroll, disciplinary actions, separations, policy reviews, development and maintenance of common HR documents and forms such as handbooks and job descriptions, and HR team and strategy development. (85%)
  • Complete overflow projects as needed including but not limited to handbook reviews, drafting or updating job descriptions, recruitment, and policy development. (10%)
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with member and non-member companies to maximize the level and quality of service delivered. Promote Association membership to non-members as appropriate. Link members to other Cascade professional services providers, products and programs. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on human resources, business management or other similar field and at least 5 years of experience in mid to high level HR Generalist work.
  • Strong communication (both verbal and written) and leadership skills are required in order to work effectively with all levels in an organization and in a variety of industries.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of employment laws such as family leave, ADA, wage and hour and other similar laws is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in various software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple on-going projects are required to assure service and product credibility and quality.
  • Typically requires current Oregon Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Must have personal computer and phone.
  • This position requires regular local travel, typically between Portland and Eugene.
