Director of Human Resources

As the Director of Human Resources you will provide organizational leadership and establish and implement human resource strategies in support of the organization’s goals and objectives. You will develop and implement strategies in the areas of succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, benefit administration, compliance and compensation. As a member of the Executive Management Team, you will report directly to the Executive Director and provide strategic leadership by articulating Human Resource needs and plans to the Executive Management Team and Board of Directors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides vision and leadership which support the organizations mission, vision and strategies.
  2. Builds strong credibility of the human resources function through professional qualifications leadership skills and integrity.
  3. Develops comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of the organization.
  4. Oversees and monitors the functional areas of Human Resources including the compensation program (wage and salaries), drug testing program, criminal background check system, recruitment and selection process and activities, employee promotion and transfer activities, leaves of absences, new employee orientation program, employee relations, employee record keeping, employee training, performance appraisal system, cultural competency program, employee grievance and investigation processes, termination process, Affirmative Action Plan, position description development.
  5. Function as a strategic business advisor to Senior Leadership and their direct reports. Provides technical assistance for management and other staff regarding employment related issues. Acts as an advisor and coach.
  6. Develops and oversees the measurement and outcomes of deliverables through the use of Workforce Analytics.
  7. Oversees the Human Resource components of the HRIS System and acts as a “super systems administrator”.
  8. Develops and implements comprehensive compensation and benefit plans that are competitive and cost effective for organization
  9. Leads, inspires, mentors and supervises Human Resources staff.
  10. In conjunction with the Executive Director and administrative leadership, develops annual budget and program objectives. Implements and monitors program objectives and annual budgetary goals.
  11. Implements and monitors human resource CQI projects.
  12. Provides leadership to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) team, actively promoting DEI throughout the organization and its partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field
  2. Current PHR and/or SHRM-CP preferred
  3. Typically requires 7-10 years progressively responsible work in Human Resources, with prior senior leadership experience
  4. Ability to strategically and tactically evaluate and implement sophisticated HR related programs and initiatives
  5. Ability to work with a variety of organizational leadership to build consensus around HR strategy
  6. Competent and knowledgeable of HR information systems and computer technology
  7. Models superior interpersonal communication, presentation and organizational skills
