Oregon Announces Statewide New Risk and Protection Framework

Published Wednesday, November 25, 2020 2:00 pm

Today, November 25th, Governor Brown announced Oregon’s Risk and Protection Framework, which will go into effect after the statewide freeze on December 3rd. As a reminder, since November 18th and effective through December 2nd, Oregon has been on a statewide two-week freeze.

Oregon’s Risk and Protection Framework will examine each county’s risk levels during subsequent two-week periods. Specifically, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) will inspect and publish county data weekly. As a note, each county’s risk level will not change until the end of the second week. In that first week of review, each county will be given what is called “Warning Week data,” which will help the county prepare for any potential changes. In the second week, county risk levels will be updated based on that week’s data.

Based on the county’s risk levels, various restrictions will be in place. For a table of the mandates broken down by risk and activity, click here. For where each county currently stands on the risk level scale, click here and scroll to County Risk Levels.

It should be noted that this information is very new and because of this, Oregon will be publishing more information prior to December 3rd. Cascade will continue to monitor this framework and we will keep you updated as the new guidance is released. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
