Note: The following CDC guidance does not change Oregon’s mask guidance that is currently in place under OHA and OSHA.
Today, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued updated guidance for individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Specifically, the CDC stated that:
- Fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance
- Fully vaccinated people can refrain from testing following a known exposure unless they are residents or employees of a correctional or detention facility or a homeless shelter
As we previously alerted, under the CDC guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 if it has been at least two weeks since they have received the second dose in a 2-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or at least two weeks after they have received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson and Johnson [J&J]/Janssen).
The CDC stressed that fully vaccinated individuals should:
- Still get tested if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
- Not visit private or public settings if they have tested positive for COVID-19 in the prior 10 days or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
- Continue to follow any applicable federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations
Again, it is important to note that this guidance was issued at the federal level and Oregon has not updated its COVID-19 guidance relating to individuals in the workplace. Therefore, employers should continue to follow Oregon’s Executive Orders, Oregon OSHA’s rules, and OHA guidance.
