Oregon Follows New CDC Mask Guidelines

As an update to our alert yesterday, Oregon’s Governor Brown has now issued a statement that Oregon will follow the CDC’s recently published guidelines regarding masks.  Accordingly:

  • Oregonians who are fully-vaccinated no longer need to wear masks or social distance in most public spaces.
  • There are a few exceptions, such as public transportation, hospitals, correctional facilities, and long-term care facilities in which masks will still be required.

The announcement did not state how this would impact employers specifically, but Governor Brown did state the following:

"In the coming days, the Oregon Health Authority will be providing updated guidance for businesses, employers, and others to allow the option of lifting mask and physical distancing requirements after verifying vaccination status. Some businesses may prefer to simply continue operating under the current guidance for now, rather than worrying about verifying vaccination status, and that’s fine.”

Once new rules are published Cascade will continue to keep you updated.
