Update: Washington Minimum Wage Increase for 2012

Posted by: Washington State Department of Labor & Industries on Tuesday, October 4, 2011

The Washington Department of Labor & Industries has announced that the state’s minimum wage will increase by 37 cents to $9.04 per hour starting January 1, 2012. The state recalculates the wage each September as required by an initiative passed by voters in 1998. The initiative requires the state to adjust the minimum wage based on the CPI-W, which is a national Consumer Price Index covering the cost of goods and services needed for day-to-day living. That index rose 4.258 percent during the 12 months ending August 31, 2011.
