Ever wonder where all those wooden paintbrush handles are made? Let me introduce you to McRae & Sons, Inc. This Bay City, Oregon family-owned business has been a Cascade member for nearly 30 years and in business for 60 years.
Did you know…

  1. Originally when the company was founded by Don McRae, Sr. in 1957, they created wooden paper-roll plugs for the large paper manufacturers in the area.
  2. Soon after formation, McRae & Sons approached Purdy Corporation about the possibility of manufacturing their brush handles, and that relationship was born. In time, McRae has produced over 50 million pieces in 170 different shapes and sizes for their customers.
  3. With their plant located near the forests of coastal Oregon, McRae has local access to a wide variety of native Northwest hardwoods, such as Red Alder and Pacific Coast Maple, as well as supplies of other popular and beautiful woods like Black Walnut and Cherry.
  4. Today, McRae & Sons manufactures upwards of 6.5 million wooden pieces per year from its 75,000 square-foot facility in Bay City. From fine handmade furniture to wooden handles and scrollwork, their wholesale customers include Purdy Corporation, Wood Castle Furniture and numerous others seeking quality and cost-effective solutions for all types of wooden shapes.
  5. McRae & Sons’ craftspeople are so good and their techniques so refined, they guarantee anything they make will be free from defects in materials and workmanship.

Cascade is proud to showcase McRae & Sons, a northwest manufacturer dedicated to quality craftsmanship in everything they do.
