In the beginning, one of the first things that settlers learned was how to dry and cure beef into jerky for the winter. The ones who taught them were the original Oregonians – the Native Americans indigenous to the area. The name “Tillamook” itself is from the language of the people who lived here before us. Let me introduce you to Tillamook Country Smoker, founded on this long-standing survival heritage. Did you know…

  1. Tillamook Country Smoker’s roots reach back 50 years, when a man named Art Crossley started making his own unique brand of beef jerky in the back room of his small meat market in Bay City, Oregon. Soon after, he was joined by neighboring farmers Crawford Smith and Helen Gienger who loved Art’s jerky and were convinced it would be a big hit if even more people could taste it.
  2. Soon, jerky sales started smokin’. The special beef jerky that Art Crossley created in the back of his meat market took off! Today Tillamook Country Smoker products can be found in all 50 states and overseas.
  3. Tillamook Country Smoker has grown to be the largest processing plant for regular and peppered jerky, meat, pepperoni, and teriyaki sticks in the United States.
  4. In 2010 Tillamook Country Smokers received the Bizrate Circle of Excellence Award. Bizrate is one of the largest sources of consumer-generated review content in the world and their award is only given to a select few.
  5. Today TCS is a third-generation family business. Every day, thousands of pounds of their delicious, high quality meat snacks are shipped throughout the world.

Cascade is proud to showcase Tillamook Country Smokers. As Crawford Smith says, “With jerky this good, growth is unlimited.”
