Five Things You May Not Know About Wildish

Nearly 70 years ago, this company was one of the founding members of Cascade Employers Association. Today it’s one of the most diversified and focused companies in the state of Oregon. Did you know…

  1. In 1935, T.C. Wildish arrived in Eugene, Oregon, from North Dakota and began hauling construction material in a single truck. Over the following 20 years, T.C. grew his business to include an aggregate source for gravel and a plant for asphalt production. By 1953 all five of his sons were prepared to carry on the Wildish traditions.
  2. Today Wildish is a four-generation family-owned business, with second, third, and fourth generation family members all actively involved in day-to-day operations. The Wildish group of companies now include: Wildish Sand & Gravel, Wildish Construction, Wildish Building and Wildish Standard Paving.
  3. Wildish performs construction of commercial and industrial buildings, sports facilities, site work, highways, bridges, airports, utility work, light and heavy rail, and wastewater/water plants. Just a few of the local Wildish projects you may recognize are: the Reser Stadium expansion and the OSU Basketball Center; the Medford freeway interchange (largest state project since Interstate 5 was constructed); Autzen Stadium expansion; and I-205 Light Rail South Corridor Green Line.
  4. The company’s typical project mix averages approximately 80% public sector work and 20% private sector work, employing over 300 people and several hundred pieces of heavy equipment.
  5. As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, Wildish supports sustainable construction techniques and use of sustainable materials to conserve non-renewable resources, contribute to better air and water quality, support the local economy and save money. One of their many notable green practices is a solar panel system on the roof of their Eugene corporate offices. The system includes 147 photovoltaic panels which produce enough electricity to power about four average homes for a year.

Cascade is proud to showcase Wildish, encouraging and supporting employees in their volunteer pursuits, offering personal time and financial contributions to a variety of civic and charitable organizations serving youth, health care and the arts.
