It’s the holiday party season and of course you want people to have fun and enjoy themselves. But you also want to make sure the fun is appropriate and safe.
Here are some tips to keep in mind when your company hosts a holiday party (or any other similar event):
- If alcohol is being served, consider hiring bartenders and offering drink tickets as opposed to a full open bar and be sure to serve plenty of food;
- Have designated company representatives to help monitor;
- Consider providing transportation services such as cab rides home or other transportation alternatives;
- Remind employees about your company’s policies on conduct, including harassment and substance abuse and drinking responsibly;
- Post any additional policies that will apply to the party in advance, including notices in employee break rooms, on bulletin boards, via e-Mail, intranet, etc.
- Remind people to dress and act appropriately – these are still your co-workers that you have to work with when the party is over.
Here’s to a safe and happy event.
