Helping You Pave the Way to Successful Practices and Outcomes
Because sitting down in a room with a group of colleagues to address challenges and how to tackle them head-on really isn’t a thing right now, Cascade created HR Connect. This newly-added membership benefit focuses on trending HR topics and best practices around compliance, culture and connection.
Offered monthly, these one-hour live online sessions are presented by our own subject matter experts. Each session provides an interactive training experience and is free to all Cascade members (open to your entire team) and non-members are invited to participate at $50 per person. We’ve carefully selected topics from feedback around top HR-related challenges currently hitting the business world.

I assure you, time will fly by and you’ll leave with a renewed sense of confidence that you’re better equipped to handle similar situations that come your way, delivering better outcomes for both your employees and your organization.
An example
During our session on September 15, Addressing the Pay Equity Gap Today, we’ll discuss trends, difficulties and how to address inequities to ensure you are paying fairly and have no equity gaps in your organization. Pay equity reviews are an important consideration, as more employers want to address any unintentional disparities based on protected classes, including race and gender. And remember, Oregon has its own Equal Pay Law!
In Oregon, it’s unlawful to:
- Discriminate between employees based on a protected class in the payment of wages or other compensation for work of a comparable character.
- Pay wages or other compensation to any employee at a rate greater than that at which the employer pays wages or other compensation to employees of a protected class for work of comparable character.
- Screen applicants based on current or past compensation.
- Determine compensation for a position based on current or past compensation of a prospective employee.
- Discriminate in the payment of wages or other compensation because an employee filed a claim under this law.
Making sure that those making pay decisions in your organization are equipped to do so correctly is extremely important – no matter what size your business is. Helping employees understand the business conditions behind pay decisions is critical as well. Some employers have frozen pay, others have delayed increases, and being prepared to explain big purchases happening at the same time as frozen wages is critical. Participants will have the opportunity to share examples of their pay and equity challenges, along with how they’ve addressed them.
