Ever find yourself wondering how you’re supposed to keep up with all the changes to laws, rules and regulations? It’s TOO much! You’re not wrong. In fact, in a recent study we did with new members of Cascade, keeping up with legal changes was ranked as the No. 1 challenge they have.
You may know that Cascade’s mission is “Building Better Workplaces Through Culture, Compliance and Connection.” Let’s talk about this compliance piece for a moment. Compliance is one of our largest service areas and with that comes a ton of resources to help you keep up.
1. Cascade’s Member-Only Website. Exclusive for Cascade members, this site is filled with sample forms, policies, FAQs, factsheets and guides, and in-depth research tools. It also includes a brand-new Paid Leave Oregon Resource Center.
2. Read our alerts and monthly publications such as NewsBrief. We’re not sending nearly as many alerts as we did in 2020 and 2021 (hoping I’m not jinxing things), but we continue to send out alerts when it’s critical employer information. If you miss the alert, it is always included in our monthly NewsBrief publication. Our alerts can also be found on our homepage under Recent News.
3. Attend our Annual Compliance Update. This annual update reviews all of the important legal changes that happened that year and what to expect in the following year. For those of you that like to plan ahead you can already register for this year’s Compliance Update on December 6th or December 13th. BONUS—If you have our small business package this session is FREE for you (but you still need to register).
4. Sign up for our HR Academy. Whether you are new to HR or just need a refresh, the Academy provides you with the HR knowledge, tools and resources you need to manage and lead in the core functions of HR. The fall series starts in September, so sign up now.
5. Think you missed something? Not sure what you’re doing? Know what you want to do, but need to run it past someone? Need to phone a friend? We’re here for you. Cascade members all have access to our AnswerSource helpline for quick and reliable answers to your employment related questions. Just reach out!
6. Participate in our quarterly HR Trends Survey. This survey collects data on key workplace issues related to compliance, recruitment and retention, compensation, DEI and leadership. Cascade uses this important data to make sure you have the resources you need to address how these trends may impact your workplace. And of course, as a participant you’ll get access to the reports to see for yourself. Oh, and hurry this quarter. The deadline is August 19th.
Hopefully you feel a little better about how to keep up!
