On May 20, the 2024 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection opened for reporting. Employers must file their EEO-1 data through the EEO-1 filing platform by June 24, 2025. The EEOC has stated that although the filing period is shorter than usual, there will be no extensions granted to employers that miss the deadline. The following employers are required to file EEO-1 reports:
- Employers with 100 or more employees; and
- Federal contractors and first-tier subcontractors with 50 or more employees and a federal contract, subcontract, or purchase order worth $50,000 or more.
The report requires employers to choose a workforce snapshot period, which is a pay period between October 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024. From the chosen period, employers must report the number of employees by job category, race or ethnicity, and sex.
Additionally, the EEOC will no longer be communicating via postal mail and will be sending all communications electronically.
For instructions on how to file, employers can access the 2024 EEO-1 Component 1 Data Collection Instruction Booklet, which was recently published by the EEOC.
Employers should also make sure their contact information with the EEO-1 platform is up-to-date to ensure that they are receiving communications from the EEOC. Employers with questions about contact information and accessing the reporting platform should contact EEO-1 Support Team directly.
